MATERIALS
3.5MM Crochet hook
Yellow DK (approx 10g)
Black DK (approx. 10g)
White DK (less than 5g)
Safety eyes (optional)
15G Toy stuffing
Wool needle
MAIN BODY OF THE BEE STARTING WITH THE FACE END
Using Colour A (Colour A will make the face of the bee)
ROUND 1 – Make a magic ring and work 7 HTR into the ring. SL ST into the first HTR and close the loop (7 STS)
ROUND 2 – CH2 (counts as the first stitch here and throughout the pattern). HTR into the same stitch. Work 2 HTR into each of the next 6 STS. Join with a SL ST into the top of the beginning CH2. (14 STS)
ROUND 3 – CH2, HTR into the same stitch, *HTR into next ST, 2 HTR in next ST. (Repeat from * a further 5 times). Finish with HTR. Join with a SL ST into top of beginning CH2 (21 STS)
ROUND 4 – CH2, HTR into the same stitch, *HTR in each of the next 2 STS, 2 HTR into next stitch. (Repeat from * a further 5 times). Finish with HTR, Join with SL ST into top of CH2 (28 STS)
ROUND 5 – CH2, HTR into the same stitch, *HTR in each of the next 3 STS, 2 HTR into next stitch. Repeat from * a further 5 times. Finish with HTR, Join with SL ST into top of CH2 (35 STS)
ROUND 6 – CH2, HTR into the next 34 STS. Join with SL ST into top of CH2, fasten off and weave in the ends (35 STS)
ROUND 7 – Join Colour B using a SL ST, *CH2, HTR into the next 34 STS. Join with SL ST into top of CH2. (35 STS)
ROUND 8 – CH2, HTR into the next 34 STS. Join with SL ST into top of CH2, fasten off and weave in the ends (35 STS)
ROUNDS 9 & 10 – Join Colour A with a SL ST, Repeat round 7 from * and round 8 (35 STS)
ROUNDS 11 & 12 – Repeat rounds 7 & 8 (35 STS)
If using safety eyes, position on Row 4 with 8 STS between each eye and attach securely.
ROUND 13 – Join Colour A using a SL ST, CH2, HTR into the next 34 STS. Join with SL ST into top of CH2 (35 STS)
ROUND 14 – CH2, HTR into 2 STS. *Using front loops only, HTR next 2 STS together, HTR in next 3 STS (Repeat from * a further 5 times). Finish with HTR 2 together, Join with SL ST into top of CH2, fasten off and weave in the ends (28 STS)
ROUND 15 – Join Colour B using a SL ST, CH2, HTR into next stitch, * Using front loops only, HTR next 2 STS together, HTR in next 2 STS (Repeat from * a further 5 times). Finish with HTR 2 together. Join with SL ST into top of CH2 (21 STS)
ROUND 16 – CH2, *Using front loops only, HTR next 2 STS together, HTR in next ST (Repeat from * a further 5 times). Finish with HTR 2 together, Join with SL ST into top of CH2, fasten off and weave in the ends (14 STS)
Stuff with approx. 15g toy stuffing
ROUND 17 – Join with a SL ST and *Using front loops only, HTR next 2 STS together. (Repeat from * a further 6 times). Fasten off and leave a long tail (7 STS)
Using a wool needle, work into the front loops only of each of the 7 STS, pull tight to close ring, fasten off and weave in ends.
WINGS (MAKE 2)
ROUND 1 – Using white DK, CH3, Work 4 HTR into 3rd CH from hook, turn (5 STS)
ROUND 2 – CH2 (counts as first stitch) HTR in same ST, 2 HTR in next 4 STS (10STS), fasten off leaving a long tail.
Attach wings over rows 9 & 10 with 2-3 STS in between.
